FAN SINCE:
I have been a Dwight Fan since the start of his career. The very first time
I heard his voice I was hooked.
FIRST DY CONCERT:
The year was 1993 it was the first show on his This Time Tour, I was driving
a truck at the time and scored tickets. I was two rows from the stage and I
was so excited to be there. When Dwight walked out on that stage and started
to sing it was like magic his voice was so smooth and seamed to embrace you
with every word. I have been to 43 Dwight shows all across the US that magic
is still the same at every show.
FAVORITE DY ALBUM AND/OR SONG:
I love them all but I have to say This Time and a Thousand Miles from
Nowhere.
FAVORITE DY MOVIE ROLE:
Well again I like everything he plays in but I would have to pick Painted
Hero.
LAST TIME YOU'VE SEEN DY IN CONCERT:
Ft Collins Colorado in 2006
HOW DWIGHT HAS AFFECTED YOUR LIFE:
Dwight and his music has filled my life with joy and peace. I drove a truck
for many years and Dwight carried me down the road many nights there were
times when it felt like his voice kept me safe, awake, and like he was
singing only to me. I would get lost in his his songs and live the words in
my mind and I would sing along with him and the hours would pass into a new
day. Dwight was like my Angel on the road. I love his music his acting but
most of all I love Dwight because he has stayed true and real. I have paid
as much as $500.00 for a Ticket to see Dwight and stood in line for up to 26
hours and I would do it all over again.
ANYTHING ELSE TO ADD:
That is a hard one because I have lots of stories, but I will pick one it
was Sedela MO and I was first in line at 400 a.m. I was the only one there
until about 10:00 a.m. I had my boom box blasting Dwight Music and as the
day went by I shared stories with every one in line. The guard thought I was
crazy to have waited in that heat all day. At about 4:30 p.m. the person
behind me held my place so I could go get a shower and change for the show.
I got back in line and the excitement was building.
About 10 minutes before the gates were to open here come these two girls
walking up and got in front of every one that did not go over very well the
guard tried to move them but they would not listen to him so at this point
everyone was getting very up-set so I took the girls by the arm and led them
to the back of the line with every one cheering and explained to them if
they try to cut in front of any one else they might not make the show. Well
that might not have been my exact words but they got the hint. You would
have just had to have been there. It was really crazy.
Every show has a story that I will never forget all 43 of them.
The Picture I am sending was made in Memphis, TN in 93 it was the second
show I went to and I was in the second row there was some people in the
front row who knew Punkin. They had just been to LA and had dinner with
Dwight and Punkin. I was so excited to be at the show and they talked to me
about why I was so crazy about Dwight and his music. They had meet and greet
passes when it came time to go back to meet Dwight they gave me a pass took
my picture with Dwight and sent me a copy. A very treasured moment for me.
Thank you for letting me share some of my thoughts and feelings about such a
wonderful Artist as Dwight Yoakam
