FAN NAME: KatyFrance
LOCATION: Paris, France
FAN SINCE:
I listen and I know Dwight Yoakam since 1988. I have a friend in Switzerland who introduced me to Dwight Yoakam's music for the first time. One day he told me, "Listen to this young country US singer; he's pretty good and I like his music." I used to listen to country and rock 'n roll. (With my husband, we created an Elvis fan club and opened an Elvis store here in Paris.) So I listened to this Dwight album (Buenas Noches From A Lonely Room) His voice, the rhythm, how he sings the country makes me love this artist immediately. I wanted to learn a little more about him. In the 8o's in Europe, there was not a lot of information about Dwight! I used to buy his albums with a lot of pleasure, but I had never seen him in concert. One day, I found some videos about him on the web, and it reinforced my passion for him and his music.
FIRST DY CONCERT:
The first time I saw Dwight in concert was during his music tour Blame the Vain in 2006 at the Festival de Poupee Vendee in France.
Here is the story : One day, surfing on the web and I saw that he would sing only for one night in France. I couldn't believe it. My husband reserved two place, and a night in a hotel, etc... And we went there. It was exactly Friday, July 26 in 2006. We traveled to the concert by Harley Davidson, of course!!! Go to meet Dwight!!
After a few hours on the road, we arrived at the place which was a big green theater. Dwight went on the stage... WAOUUU 3 hours of concert!!!! There are few singers who stay longer on stage... It was like a dream. At last, I saw Dwight Live... I hoped I could see him again in France.
FAVORITE DY ALBUM AND/OR SONG:
Hard to answer... I love ALL of them.. I should say "Buenas Noches From A Lonely Room"
because this is the first I heard! I like "Gone" "DSB" hum!! My favorite one YES! This is "DwightYoakamAcoustic.net". I love to hear his voice with only the guitar.
My favorite song... Heartbreaker question!! There are a lot of them. I think I could not live without "The Back Of Your Hand", "A Thousand Miles From Nowhere", "Ain’t That Lonely Yet",
"Wild Ride", "Fast As You " I have a preference for "If There Was A Way"
Because maybe if there was a way!!! I love ALL of them!!!!
FAVORITE DY MOVIE ROLE:
Unfortunately, I haven't seen all of Dwight’s movies. Few of his movies are released in France... In the midst of all I have seen, my favorite is "Painted Hero".
OH !! I love him in "Red Rock West" also...It was a small part but Oh so sexy !!! .
LAST TIME YOU'VE SEEN DY IN CONCERT:
The last time, I saw Dwight in concert!!! It was last spring in the city of Indio, California, during the Stagecoach Festival. It was exactly the 3rd of March 2008. It was like a Dream to see Dwight in USA.
Here's the story : For my birthday, my husband offered me the trip in order to see Dwight in concert at Stagecoach. That was an incredible memory, so amazing, awesome "Notre Cowboy".
My only regret, I was not chosen for the M&G. I was coming from so far only for his Dwight concert. I really hoped to meet him. We tried to go to the backstage and maybe we could meet Dwight but nothing
Maybe another time "If There Was A Way"!!
HOW DWIGHT HAS AFFECTED YOUR LIFE:
When I listen to Dwight singing, everything light up around me. His voice makes me happy when I'm sad. I listen to him as often as possible... even at work on my Ipod!
He helps me to find the inspiration, to be concentrated, to stay calm... I love the man and his music, how he sings, how he moves on stage and I love his fashion sense. Some of his words make me cry or transport me to another world. I am always looking for new things. Everything concerning Dwight interests me.
ANYTHING ELSE TO ADD:
First of all, I think this is when my husband offered me my birthday gift last year, with the round trip and the places for his concert in Stagecoach and with the program he made for me... We traveled from the West of the USA to the East with trips in L.A., Bakersfield, Pikeville KY, etc... And we ended in Virginia where we saw Jane, who became a friend, I should say a sister for me, due to Dwight and Internet.
There is also the daily relationship I have with his fans all over the world. We share our passion for "Notre Cowboy" on RT23 and other website.
