FAN SINCE:
I wasn't a huge fan right from the start. I was just out of high school, Honky Tonk Man had just been released in Canada...and it was
HUGE. You could not turn the radio on without hearing it, and being a Johnny Horton fan, I thought, doesn't anyone write they're own
songs anymore? Boy was I wrong ( I was young and stupid).
Then the radio stations started playing Guitars ,Cadillacs, Etc. and I loved it. I recall seeing the videos for both and thinking,
"ok , I have to buy this album". I remember buying the cassette, going home, listening to the music and not moving the whole time.
I was awestruck. Reading the lyrics and credits and seeing that Dwight wrote most of the songs,I was hooked. I just had a greater
appreciation for artists that wrote they're own songs. I no longer have that tape because I wore it out..I remember playing it for
friends of mine saying.."you have to hear this"...this is the music I listened to as a little kid growing up!
FIRST DY CONCERT:
Not much of a story...it was the mid 80s...in Winnipeg, Manitoba...a great show..but the security got a little tough towards the end
of the show. People were dancing in the aisles,( who can blame them?) the security kept telling people to sit down because they were
blocking peoples view of the stage, they got carried away and wrestled one uncooperative fan to the ground...At that point..Dwight got
upset,(he had been watching this the whole time). He knocked over his mic stand with his guitar and walked off the stage! It was
disappointing, but I dont blame him in the least.
FAVORITE DY ALBUM AND/OR SONG:
Favorite Album: Tomorrows Sounds Today
Fvorite song; Things Change
FAVORITE DY MOVIE ROLE:
Bandidas!!!! He played an excellent role in this movie...He played his character perfectly.
LAST TIME YOU'VE SEEN DY IN CONCERT:
In 1997, at the YMCA benefit in Idaho...awesome show..just missed being in the website picture that shows him from the back..my buddy
and I were directly in front..last row standing. We literally drove 1000 Miles From Nowhere...to be there. Gotta love my wife for
letting me go. It was a last minute decision to go..I called for VIP tickets and was told they were sold out...but! they had a number
of a lady in Utah, who could not make the show. To make a long story short, after a few phone calls..UPSing a check for the tickets
...we were on our way. A road trip and a concert we won't forget.
HOW DWIGHT HAS AFFECTED YOUR LIFE:
I grew up listening to Buck Owens, Johnny Horton, Hank Williams...when I first started listening to Dwight, it reminded me of my
childhood and listening to all that great music. And now when I hear one of Dwight's songs, I think of a period in my life that
occured when that particular song or album was released. I love the man and his music..anyone that knows me personally knows what a
huge fan I am. I cannot properly put into words what Dwights music means to me...the lyrics ..the voice...no other singer song writer
can move me the way Dwight has. The perfect mix. He could sing the phone book and i would buy the cd.
I'm still waiting for him to One Woman Man!
ANYTHING ELSE TO ADD:
I would have to thank my wife, (who also loves Dwight) for being so patient and understanding (sort of) with me for being such a
Dwight fanatic...from listening to his music constantly...(I am sorry to say I have a couple of bootleg live cds...) to my extensive
collection of Dwight autographed pictures, cds, cd box sets, dvds, official Stetson signature hat, and my most prized items from the
set.
